Wayne L. Turner
President
Wayne L. Turner has more than 32 years of commercial banking experience, including a 15-year term as President and CEO of F & M Bank Charlottesville, an affiliate bank of F & M National Corporation. Under Mr. Turner’s leadership, F & M Bank Charlottesville grew from a single banking location with assets of $15 Million to a 14-branch banking operation with assets of $225 million. F&M Bank Charlottesville was consistently a top performer in the F&M National family. Mr. Turner has served as a member of the Board of Directors and is a former Chairman of the Board of the Virginia School of Bank Management.
In addition to holding a B.S. from the University of Maryland in Business Administration, Mr. Turner has successfully completed a variety of coursework in banking and finance at Virginia School of Bank Management at the University of Virginia, the University of Oklahoma’s National Commercial Lending School, and the Robert Morris Associates Lending Workshop at East Carolina University. Mr. Turner has served as a deacon and elder at First Presbyterian Church in Charlottesville, Virginia. He has also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Leadership Charlottesville Alumni Association, the Thomas Jefferson Area United Way, and the North Charlottesville Business Council.
Alan J. Sweet
Executive Vice President
Alan J. Sweet is a lifetime resident of Augusta County and an active member of the Augusta County business community. He began his banking career immediately following graduation from Bridgewater College with a B.S. in Economics and Business Administration. An experienced commercial lender with former tenures as Senior Vice President of commercial lending for Planters Bank & Trust Company and The First Bank and Trust Company, Mr. Sweet has completed extensive post-graduate studies related to the financial services industry. He is a graduate of the Virginia Bankers Association School of Bank Management and the American Bankers Association Graduate School of Banking.
Mr. Sweet currently resides in Stuarts Draft. His past board affiliations include The American Heart Association, Stuarts Draft Business Association, Greater Augusta Regional Chamber of Commerce, the American Red Cross, and the Stuarts Draft Crime Prevention Association.
Gianfranco "John" Avoli
Mr. Avoli served as a director for Rockingham Heritage Bank from 2004 until the recent sale to United Bankshares. Born in Trivigliano, Italy, he moved to the United States in 1960. He earned his bachelors degree and teaching certification from the University of Richmond in 1974 and his Masters of Education degree from the University of Virginia in 1977. John’s career includes distinguished work as an educator, serving as an English teacher, coach, and Principal in Augusta County Schools and as Director of Valley Vocational Technical Center in Fishersville. Mr. Avoli furthered his public service career by serving as Staunton’s mayor from 1992 to 2006, when he elected to not seek reelection. In 2002, he also became the executive director of Staunton’s Museum of American Frontier Culture, where he continues to provide strategic direction, aid in fundraising, and handle all facets of public relations.
J. Waller Callison, Jr.
A lifelong resident of Augusta County and Staunton, Mr. Callison was active for over 35 years in real estate and insurance businesses in Staunton. Presently, he is actively involved in cattle farming (a business in which he has been continuously engaged for over 50 years), a Staunton-based automobile dealership, and the development and operation of hotel properties in Waynesboro. He served for 18 years on the Augusta County Board of Zoning Appeals. Mr. Callison attended Washington and Lee University.
Steve B. Dod
Mr. Dod is retired from Dod Distributing Company, which he founded in Staunton in 1960 and led for 37 years. A native of Lexington, Virginia, he attended Virginia Military Institute and the University of Tennessee. In 1953, Mr. Dod joined the United States Navy, where he served in the United States Navy Honor Guard in Washington, D.C. While leading Dod Distributing Company, he was on the board of directors of the Virginia Beer Wholesalers for 12 years, and also served on the advisory boards of First & Merchants Bank, Sovran Bank, NationsBank, and Bank of America. Currently, Mr. Dod is on the board of directors for the Frontier Culture Museum and is an elder at First Presbyterian Church in Staunton.
Roller Eavers, Jr.
Mr. Eavers is President of Eavers Enterprises, Inc., and Roller Eavers Partnership, both of which he founded. A lifelong resident of Augusta County and Stuarts Draft, he has been involved in the business community for over 40 years. Current business activities include operation of convenience stores and gas stations, automotive service, repair and tire centers, a classic car museum, and warehouses. Mr. Eavers has also served in various roles in his church, including the board of deacons.
Kenneth L. Elmore
Mr. Elmore is a retired certified public accountant, having served 43 years in public accounting. A resident of Augusta County for nearly 40 years, he presently owns and operates a 300-acre cattle farm in the Middlebrook area. Mr. Elmore served for 10 years on the Board of Community Bank (Staunton), and is a past director and treasurer of Country Club of Staunton, as well as a member of the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants and America Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He received his bachelor of science degree in accounting from Concord University in Athens, West Virginia.
Robert O. Errett
Mr. Errett is chief executive officer and chief financial officer of Parker Compound Bows, a manufacturer of hunting bows and crossbows he founded 21 years ago in Mint Spring, Virginia. A resident of Waynesboro and Augusta County for the past 31 years, he served in the United States Army and is a Vietnam veteran. Past community service and civic activities have included YMCA, Boys & Girls Club, Elks Lodge, Frontier Culture Museum, and Augusta County Board of Zoning Appeals. Mr. Errett is a graduate of Marshall University, where he received a bachelor of business administration in accounting and finance.
Paul J. Hodgen
Mr. Hodgen is retired from Sandvik, Inc., following a 30 year career in financial management. Prior to his retirement he served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for the U.S. subsidiary of this Swedish multinational materials engineering and manufacturing company. A resident of Waynesboro since March 2004, Mr. Hodgen is presently a Director and Treasurer of Waynesboro Country Club and President of the Rotary Club of Waynesboro/East Augusta County. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Rutgers University and a Masters of Business Administration degree from Seton Hall University.
John D. Johnston
Mr. Johnston, is Chief Executive Officer of Legacy Group Holding Co. which owns Mathers Construction Team, a general construction company headquartered in Waynesboro, and March Construction, Inc., a commercial excavating and grading contractor also headquartered in Waynesboro. He is majority owner of Mathers, with whom he has been associated since 1962, and sole owner of March, which he helped start in 1978. Mr. Johnston is past President of the Valley District Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of Virginia and served on the Waynesboro Advisory Board of NationsBank. A resident of Waynesboro since 1962, Mr. Johnston is past President of the Waynesboro YMCA and a past Director of Waynesboro/East Augusta Chamber of Commerce. He remains active in numerous civic organizations, including Masonic Lodge of Virginia and the Elks Lodge. Mr. Johnston attended the University of Virginia, completing coursework in accounting and advanced mathematics.
Julian Q. Moffett
Mr. Moffett is president and chief executive officer of Moffett Paving & Excavating Corp., a company he has owned since 1981. He is a lifelong resident of Staunton and Augusta County, where he presently lives on and operates a family farm. Prior to acquiring his company, Mr. Moffett was employed by the City of Staunton for 10 years, serving as director of management services, director of public works, assistant city manager, and acting city manager. He is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers and past president of the local chapter. Presently, Mr. Moffett is chairman of his church’s building program, serves as elder and trustee chairman, and is past chairman of the Board of Deacons. Additional community service has included being a member and past president of the Staunton Rotary Club and serving on the local Boy Scout Council. Mr. Moffett is a veteran of the United States Army, holds a professional engineering license, and received a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Virginia Tech.
Thomas J. Shields, Jr.
Mr. Shields is president and chief executive officer of Shields Construction, Inc., a Waynesboro-based commercial and residential construction company he owns. He is also co-owner of Augusta Realty Group (real estate sales) and Shields Investment Company, LLC (real estate investment and development), and a partner in Trimen, LLC (real estate development). Mr. Shields is twice past president of Augusta Homebuilders Association, where he also has served on the board of directors for 11 years, and is a member of Homebuilders Association of Virginia and National Association of Homebuilders. A lifelong resident of Waynesboro, he has served numerous community organizations, including YMCA, Chamber of Commerce, Boys & Girls Club, and Spike Club. Mr. Shields is presently chairman of the Finance Committee of St. John’s Catholic Church Council. A graduate of James Madison University, he received a bachelor of arts degree in business administration.
M. Terry Westhafer
Mr. Westhafer is president and general manager of Central Tire Corporation, managing member of Westhafer Company, LLC, and partner, Tri-State Investments. He also serves as treasurer for AcuTread Alliance Group and Tri-State Delta Tire Corporation. Leadership positions in professional organizations have included International Tire and Rubber Association, Tire Industry Association, The Virginia Automotive Association, The Tire Retread Information Bureau, Retread Industry Government Affairs Council, Tire and Rubber Recycling Advisory Council, Virginia Recycling Markets Development Council, and Virginia Scrap Tire Advisory Board. A lifelong resident of Staunton, Mr. Westhafer has been active in the local community, including chairman and member of the Board of Commissioners - Staunton Redevelopment and Housing Authority, Board of Directors Staunton/Augusta Chamber of Commerce, Board of Trustees Stuart Hall School, and director Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge. Mr. Westhafer has also served his church as elder, chairman of stewardship and finance, chairman of Christian education, and chairman of outreach. He earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Bridgewater College and a master’s of business administration from James Madison University.
